ROBOTS: Exothermic Teams Win Prizes in Contest

UPDATE: Tara & Maya's Robotics Team from Redmond High School won the World Championship Video competition. Their team name is 575 Haiku. They will get their award in Orlando Florida next month.  See advisor’s note below. Thanks to all who voted for them! Very strangely, their scores plummet on the last day by 10% points – perhaps another team gamed it by having their friends give them a zero score.

Also, National History Day regionals was held on Friday:

Lila got second place in National History Day regionals for her video on the Cuban missile crisis. I was blown away as she did almost the entire video by herself (on a team of only two).  I did not expect her to even have an entry. She stayed up till 6:00am after fobbing me off and sending me to bed saying she would be going to bed soon!

T&M's team got first prize in their division for their video on the Spanish American war (I did not know much about this topic).

This has been an amazing week for the kids.

Subject: ROBOTS: Two Exothermic Teams Win Prizes in Contest

Hello,

Team 575, Exothermic Haiku, just won first place in the RECF Online Challenge Design-a-Game competition, and the college team won second

place in the Educational Video Challenge.  Team 575 wins a $750 gift certificate to the VEX Robotics online store, a qualification to the

World Championships, and a trophy which will be presented at World Championship.  Team EXO gets a $500 gift certificate to the VEX store.

These were the only two Exothermic entries, but they did really well.
